The Duxbury Fanfare

"The Duxbury Fanfare" was commissioned by the South Shore Conservatory (Duxubury, MA) to celebrate the grand opening of the Ellison Center for the Arts (also in Duxbury.) The piece begins with a rather fragmented-sounding opening, and it gradually takes shape as all the instruments come together to play the main theme of the piece. The first rhythmic motive of this theme is based on the rhythm of the word "Duxbury." The piece was premiered at the First Birthday Benefit Gala at the Ellison Center for the Arts on February 28, 1998.
