Prayer of Shantideva

Prayer of Shantideva is scored for SATB chorus, oboe, and string quartet. The piece was written in honor of the Dalai Lama, and it was premiered in his presence on October 23, 2007 at The St. Paul Catholic Center in Bloomington, IN. The text used is a translation of an excerpt from "Guide to the Bodhisattva Way of Life," the collected teachings of the seventh century Buddhist monk, Shantideva.
